CRITICAL HOME REPAIR

In addition to our mission of building new homes, UVHFH recognizes that many people are living in homes that are deficient in some way. Our Critical Home Repair (CHR) program helps qualifying homeowners bring existing homes up to a standard that meets their needs. 

What Counts As CHR?

  • Entry doors and stairs that do not meet building or safety codes

  • Construction of wheelchair ramps for safe entry/exit 

  • Accessibility improvements

  • Repairs to maintain functioning kitchen and bathroom facilities

  • Windows that do not meet egress codes 

This is not an exhaustive list of all repair jobs that might qualify under Critical Home Repair program guidelines, but examples of some of the most common types of repair jobs.

Who Qualifies?

  • You must own your home, and it must be your primary dwelling

  • You must be under 80% of the Area Median Income for your county and household size

  • You must be willing to partner with UV Habitat by either assisting with repairs if able, providing lunch or beverages for volunteers, or paying a modest monthly payment for a portion of repair costs.

How to Apply:

UV Habitat does not always have capacity to do critical home repairs. The CHR program runs periodically, in between new builds and major renovations. When you complete this form we will reach out to let you know that we've received it, and if we are able to add you to a waitlist to complete the repair, or if we are unable to complete the repair requested.
